An Independent Agency Serving Wilmington
ALLCHOICE Insurance serves Wilmington, New Hanover County, and the Cape Fear coast as an independent agency representing multiple top-rated carriers. Our office sits near Eastwood Road, which means we write a lot of policies for people in Landfall, Ogden, and Midtown — and a lot of coastal commercial accounts along the Cape Fear River and the beach communities.
Because we're independent, we evaluate options across carriers and present what actually fits your situation, rather than selling a single company's product. Most of our work happens by phone, email, and video — on whatever timeline fits your schedule. Our Wilmington office serves as a meeting location for clients who prefer to handle things face-to-face, available by appointment. Same-day quotes and certificates of insurance are routine.

Wilmington's risk profile is coastal, and that changes almost everything about how a policy should be built. A policy written like an inland Piedmont policy tends to find the gaps at the worst possible moment — usually during hurricane season.
Hurricanes and named storms. This is Wilmington's defining risk. Hurricane Florence (2018) dropped more than 23 inches of rain at the airport, pushed the city to its wettest year on record, and caused catastrophic flooding that temporarily cut Wilmington off by road.
Storm surge and coastal flooding. Properties near the Cape Fear River, tidal creeks, and barrier-island beaches sit in FEMA Special Flood Hazard Areas, where flood insurance is effectively mandatory and storm surge is never covered by a standard policy.
Wind exclusions. Many carriers exclude windstorm from the base homeowners policy in coastal counties. Wind and hail coverage is often written separately, sometimes through the NC Beach Plan.
Inland freshwater flooding. Flooding here isn't only waves coming over the beach — freshwater runoff and river flooding cause damage well beyond the immediate coastline, in neighborhoods that don't look 'coastal' at all.
Older and historic homes. Downtown historic-district homes need specific rebuilding and coverage consideration that a generic policy often misses.
